Scotland made a choice: to remain a part of the UK
Scotland has made its choice, and remains part of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. Scotland against the declaration of independence in a referendum on September 18 were 55.3% of the inhabitants of this region of the UK, according to the final official results of the vote count. NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen welcomed the decision of the Scots not to declare independence, and the statement of Prime Minister David Cameron that his country will go forward as a unified state. "I fully respect the choice that the people of Scotland did at yesterday's referendum"- said in a statement, NATO Secretary General, released today in Brussels. Anders Fogh Rasmussen said that the UK is a founding member of NATO, and expressed confidence that it will continue to play a leading role in maintaining the strength of the Alliance.
